Alan M. Cassell, PhD

Dr. Cassell has co-founded or launched three technology start-ups including Integrated Nanosystems, Inc. (a spin-off from NASA Ames Research Center), Nanoconduction, Inc. (spun out of NASA Ames Research Center, www.nanoconduction.com), and NanoTox, Inc. (www.nanotox.com). Integrated Nanosystems developed wafer-scale process integration technology for nanosensors with application in semiconductor process control, environmental monitoring and biotechnology. While at Integrated Nanosystems, Dr. Cassell was Vice President of Operations and served on the Board of Directors. As Vice President of Operations he managed government grants and fabrication process development. The other spin-off from NASA Ames, Nanoconduction, is a company developing thermal interface materials for semiconductor devices. As part of the launch team Dr. Cassell was instrumental in securing the $7 M Series A investment to launch the company. Most recently, Dr. Cassell worked with Nanotox, Inc. to identify high throughput assays for toxicology testing of nanomaterials and technical due diligence and materials characterization partners in the US and Europe. As a scientific professional, Dr. Cassell has authored or co-authored 65 peer reviewed articles, presented 40 invited lectures or conference events, and has 2 issued patents.
